Humorous Wedding Speech by the Father of the Groom Good evening Ladies and Gentlemen - I must admit, I am more nervous about participating in this wedding than I was as the groom (bridegroom) at my own wedding. Maybe its because I have been married thirty years and I know what my son is getting himself in to! Joking aside, Ive had a wonderful marriage and I would like to remind David and Arba that its a serious business, and shouldnt be entered into lightly - although, at his weight, my son certainly isnt doing that. So how can the happy couple ensure a happy marriage? A lot of advice has already come their way, some which may be of use, some of it may not. For me, the key appears to be understanding women and how they†¦show more content†¦The word Fine is the word women use to end an argument when they feel that they are right and you need to shut up. Never use the word Fine to describe how a woman looks - this will cause you to have one of those arguments. So David, if you hear the three words nothing, go ahead and fine within a couple of minutes of each other, remember you yourself have three words to fall back on, yes....dear....buy it! Now, anyone whos been married will agree that the time between the engagement and wedding can often be stressful and it is easy to lose sight of the fact that you are working towards the most important day of your adult life. During this time the best man should be at hand to give a sympathetic ear to both parties and be impartial. Of course, this matter of remaining impartial is made even harder when the best man is the bridegrooms father. One such incident occurred just before Christmas when David and Arba were trying to decide where to live. I spoke with David many times on this matter and try as I could to sit on the fence, I had to take Arbas point of view on this; there was, after all, no way that David could expect Arba to move in with him and his mates. David has been a wonderful son to Sally and me and at this point of our parting with him into anothers keeping we thank him for all the twenty-three unbroken years of joy that he has given us.
